When you're onto a good thing... stick to it!

In building on the success of the inaugural Recycled Organics Conference held in 1999, the second international conference taking place in September 2001 will again use the meeting facilitation technique called Open Space Technology to help make this event even more successful!

Delegates at the 1999 conference were astounded at how a process so simple could deliver such focus and determination to establish and build a totally new industry! And so much has been done since that time due to the commitment and passion that was discovered and shared only two years ago.

How many conferences have you attended that can boast such a result? So, it's time to meet again.

For those of you weren't involved last time and Open Space Technology is still an unknown, here is a brief introduction.

Open Space Technology has been practised internationally for over 15 years, having been developed in the United States by a man who was tired of attending conferences that gave him so little opportunity to actively contribute. You know what that's like... the only time you get to really converse is during the coffee and lunch breaks? So he decided to turn the whole conference experience upside down and give more time for active contribution and less time controlling delegates. And what amazing results this has produced!

Open Space technology is similar to an open forum, although very different in many ways. It is a very structured but simple process that gives responsibility back to you, the delegate, to do as you wish... to get as much or as little out of your attendance. It will be up to you to decide on what topics determine the agenda; when those topics are addressed and where; and how the outcomes from your discussions are documented. Each meeting discussion will attract the people best qualified (those passionate) to determine the future of your issue.

One outcome is guaranteed... every topic that is relevant to the delegates will be addressed, and if you're willing to take responsibility, all meeting dialogue will be documented and distributed to delegates to ensure clear action plans are developed during the conference. You will leave with a clear focus of what to do next, with the names of enthusiastic people ready to take the next step towards delivering on the outcomes.

So, what is it that you want to achieve from attending the Recycled Organics 2001 Conference? Start putting some thought into it, because you will soon be given the opportunity to put your issues forward... issues that will make a difference. And then it will be up to you and your colleagues to identify opportunities and solutions to overcome those issues. After all, you have the expertise, and the people who will be attending this conference will be people just as passionate as you are. This is a great opportunity to speak up and be heard... you can't afford to miss it!
